High-Tech Materials Create a "Protective Gear" Effect

At this year's Salon de la Haute Horlogerie in Geneva, Richard Mille collaborated with Pablo Mac Donough, one of the world's most renowned polo players, to create the "RM 53-01 PABLO MAC DONOUGH" tourbillon watch. In addition to the dynamism and energy of a sports watch, this timepiece features a robust TPT® carbon fiber case, a laminated sapphire crystal, and a suspended steel cable securing the movement, effectively reducing the impact of large shocks and accidental collisions on the watch, making it one of the most durable luxury sports watches in the world.

The case continues the brand's classic tonneau shape design, highly recognizable, with a diameter of 44.50 x 49.94 mm and a thickness of 16.15 mm. The case is made of TPT® carbon fiber composite material, a world-renowned superior composite material known for its exceptional shock resistance. Constructed from 600 layers of parallel carbon fiber filaments, the watch boasts exceptional rigidity, lightweight shock resistance, and a sporty style. Its unique texture adds a distinctive aesthetic appeal, with novel and beautiful patterns. The TPT® carbon fiber case is secured with 20 grade 5 titanium spline screws and 316L stainless steel washers, ensuring 50-meter water resistance. The screws are designed for easy control of tightening torque during assembly. Unaffected by physical manipulation during disassembly and assembly, the screws are exceptionally durable.

The crystal of this luxury sports watch is equally robust. Ordinary watch crystals cannot withstand the impact of a polo mallet. This watch utilizes a patented UV-coated laminated sapphire crystal, consisting of two layers of sapphire crystal with a polyethylene film in between. This prevents the crystal from shattering into pieces upon impact, only causing cracks. Even a direct, strong impact will not cause the crystal to break apart, minimizing damage to the movement and the wearer.

The skeletonized upper dial is made of titanium alloy, with blue luminescent markers around the hour and minute hands, ensuring easy time reading even in low-light conditions.

It comes with a sky-blue rubber strap with blue stitching, exuding dynamism and vitality, and offering a very comfortable feel.

The transparent case back reveals the entire fishing system. The bridges are made of grade 5 titanium alloy and feature an unconventional double-baseplate structure. This consists of a first "central" baseplate that securely holds the different gears of the movement together, and an "outer" baseplate attached to the central baseplate by steel cables, supporting the entire tension system. The suspended movement and the use of grade 5 titanium alloy (double baseplate and bridges) enhance the watch's rigidity while ensuring smooth operation of the gear system and providing optimal shock protection.
